WEEKLY MESSAGE – February 9, 2024
WEEKLY MESSAGE – February 9th – Fr. Cederberg
We are now coming to the end of the season of Epiphany, knocking on the door of Lent. Epiphany is all about revelation; the revealing of who Jesus is. Through his preaching and miracles he makes clear that he is no ordinary dude. He has been sent on a mission from his Father to inaugurate a new kingdom on earth.
The final lesson on the last Sunday of Epiphany is always the Transfiguration. It shows Jesus in all of his glory, as he has been from all eternity. The difference? He now shows it to his disciples. They are both frightened and in awe. He truly is the king of kings and lord of lords. And so, they worship him.
We can think about Jesus all we want. We can pose all kinds of questions about why he did certain things, or how challenging his teaching might be. In the end, however, it all comes down to one thing. We worship him. Everything else is secondary. He is the great creator of the universe, and he has come for us. Let us bow before him.
