WEEKLY RECTOR’S MESSAGE – June 20th – Fr. Thomas.

A young couple went on a camping trip. They set up their tent and fell asleep. Some hours later, the man woke his wife and said, “Honey, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.” She replied, “I see millions of stars.” He asked, “What does that tell you?” She pondered for a minute, and replied, “Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, it’s evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.” Then, after a brief pause, the wife asks: “Well, husband, what does it tell you?” The man was silent for a moment and then said. “Someone has stolen our tent.”

Through all the twists and turns of life, don’t let anyone steal your faith. If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere anyway. Life may be confusing and unpredictable at times, but we travel along life’s highway knowing that when we get to wit’s end we’ll find God there. So, accept those times of pain and suffering; because it can stretch your heart to make room for greater joy and love. And remember, the darkest nights produce the brightest stars.
