WEEKLY MESSAGE – April 26, 2024

WEEKLY MESSAGE – April 26th – Bishop McGregor
Leading St. David’s school chapel was a bit out of my comfort zone and I wasn’t sure if I would relate or communicate effectively to the children. But I was willing to give it a try. After two weeks of worshipping together with the young students, I look forward to it now and the children are an inspiration for me. With large smiles, they are happy to be there, and sing and talk without any reservations. They are generous, kind, attentive and passionate. One of the most joy-filled times is when one of them yells at the top of his or her lungs “Bishop Todd”. My heart begins to melt away my anxiety and fills it with peace and joy.
It’s amazing how we can overcome our fears when leaning into the situation and confronting our anxieties.  I was uncertain about this situation and God wanted me to lean into my discomfort. This opportunity to be around people I didn’t feel comfortable turned fears into a blessing. In the Greek language the same word is used for ‘test’ and ‘temptation.’ God wants to bless us and for us to be blessed, we have to take a risk and settle into our discomfort. I thank the Lord for bringing this test, and the children of the St. David’s community and filling my life with joy every Tuesday.

WEEKLY MESSAGE – April 19, 2024

WEEKLY MESSAGE – April 19th – Bishop McGregor

On Tuesday, I was blessed by meeting two people separately who were looking for hope and change in their lives. One stopped by the church to check it out because he was looking for a new place to worship and the other one wanted to become an official member here. I had the great honor of spending time with them to provide hope during this transition in their lives.
The season of Easter is a time for hope and change. The disciple’s expectations had been dashed when Jesus died and they had to fend for themselves. Their lives were full of fear and anxiety. When Jesus greeted them after the resurrection, they thought he was a ghost. But once Jesus was present with them, eating with them, talking to them, and breaking bread together, their fears and anxiety subsided.
The lesson for us all during the Easter season is finding hope and change when we commune with Jesus. Some examples of communing with Jesus are talking and listening to Jesus during our meals, during our daily devotions and our fellowship with others.
My fellowship with the two people provided hope while they transitioned. May we also consider how we can be agents of hope and change for others.
Serving Christ Together,
Bishop Todd
