WEEKLY MESSAGE – January 5, 2024

WEEKLY MESSAGE – January 5th – Fr. Cederberg

I have always been fascinated by the wise men in the Gospel.  They only appear in the gospel of Matthew and are shrouded in mystery.  Today astrology, or the reading of the stars, is disregarded as junk science.  During the days of Jesus people believed it was the secret to understanding what God was doing in events on earth.  What I find amazing is that God used even the crude junk science of their day to bring them to Jesus.  What a wonderful gift!  I often wonder if God doesn’t often take what I take to be clever, but he knows to be junk, to nevertheless bring me to him.  It is so patient of God.  So rather than trusting in our smart new ideas, let us trust in him, that he will give us what we need, and get to where we need to go.  Trusting of the God who is behind all our mysteries, let’s saddle up and join in the journey of a lifetime.  You never know where he might take us, but you always know that it is going to be very, very good when we get there.
