WEEKLY RECTOR’S MESSAGE – January 13th – Fr. Thomas

A teacher by the name of Debbie Moon was presiding over a class of first grade students who were sharing family photos. One of the little boys in a picture had a different hair color than the other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted. And the little girl replied, “I know all about adoption, I was adopted.” What does it mean to be adopted?” asked another child. “It means”, said the girl, “that you grew in your mommy’s heart instead of her tummy!”

In this season of Epiphany, we remember the baptism of Christ, and give thanks for our own incorporation into the Body of Christ. Yes, we were born in the heart and mind of God before we were born in the womb. And, as children of God, we are expected to maintain the customs, appearances, and expectations of those who claim to be God’s children, heirs of His eternal life and kingdom. Because with God we cannot, and without us He will not!
